Pwani University First-Year Student Stabbed to Death 4 Days After Admission.

A first-year Pwani University student who was stabbed to death in a robbery attack on Friday, October 20, struggled to breathe and fight for her life.

Armed robbers reportedly attacked Faith Adongo as she headed home four days after her admission at the institution based in Kilifi County.

In the incident that occurred along Misifuni Road, the robbers walked away with her phone, leaving her to bleed to death from the wounds inflicted on her neck.

Emergency Service providers and good samaritans rushed her to Mephi Hospital, where first aid was administered before doctors temporarily admitted her to monitor her progress. However, the situation worsened, forcing the medics to transfer her to Kilifi County Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Led by their Student association leader, Nashon Okoth, Pwani University students and staff rallied together to contribute blood to save Adongo, who had bled profusely.

“Good evening, comrades. Following the proceedings of the stabbed comrades. We are appealing to anyone with blood group A+ to reach the Kilifi District emergency wing so that we can save her life,” read the Facebook appeal.

Unfortunately, the student died around 10 p.m. on Friday, October 20. Pwani lecturer, Dr Allois Luvai, confirmed to Wamuzi media, that Adongo passed away after her condition deteriorated further.

He added that the school would issue a statement later on as details of her death were still scanty.

Following the incident, students at the university expressed concerns for their safety, decrying insecurity along the road where Adongo was attacked.

“Insecurity in Kenyan universities should be addressed… comrades are not losing their belongings but also life,” one comment posted on X read.
